TAMAR RIVER
Species:Â Kingfish, King George Whiting and Flathead
A near picture perfect weekend down the heads of the Tamar River provide a great opportunity for anglers to head out and target some of the great fish that have been caught in recent weeks.
Kingfish still being caught, however they have moved further upstream with fish being caught as far up as the Batman Bridge.
King George Whiting in sandy patches on the Kelso flats area.
And lastly, some decent sized Flathead being caught further off shore. The ever popular Jig Em Rig working a treat.
EAGLEHAWK NECK
Species:Â Albacore Tuna.
The Albacore have rocked up in numbers down the Neck with a number of 20-30kg fish caught. Trolling small skirts and Halco Laser pros working well.
ST HELENS
Species:Â Albacore, Bluefin Tuna.
The March long weekend means it’s time for the St Helens Game Fishing Classic. One of the biggest comps on the Tasmanian game fishing scene and if rumours are true it could be shaping up as one of the best in recent years.
It has been reported that a Yellowfin was possibly hooked and lost over the weekend off the coast of St Helens, if true a great sign for the comp this weekend.
