TAMAR RIVER
Species:Â Â King George Whiting, Flathead, Calamari and Salmon.
The Tamar River has gone quiet over the past week compared to recent weeks, but anglers are still having fun catching many of the local residents.
King George Whiting on the sand flats, Calamari over the weed beds, Salmon in Bell Bay and Flathead out off the heads.
Providing ample opportunity for young and old to head out for a fish.
WATERHOUSE ISLAND
Species:Â Flathead.
Waterhouse Island was the pick of the spots for anglers chasing Flathead over the weekend with some great 600mm plus fish landed. Bottom rigs with fresh bait working well.
ST HELENS
Species:Â Yellowfin Tuna, Mako, Broadbill Swordfish.
The St Helens Game fishing comp was held over the long weekend and unfortunately Saturday called off due to bad weather. Despite this, a few boats braved the elements and ventured out and it was certainly worth their while with one boat landing a 75kg + Yellowfin Tuna. Providing plenty of optimisms for the start of the comp on Sunday morning.
The heaviest game fish weighed in was a 50kg Yellowfin Tuna and heaviest Shark was 178kg Mako. Congratulations to all involved.
And lastly a massive Broadbill Swordfish was also caught over the weekend, with the 300kg + fish taking over 10 hours to land.
