As the Summer holiday period draws to a close, anglers are certainly being spoilt on the fishing front
ST HELENS
Species:Â Mako Shark.
The Game Fishing Club shark comp is scheduled for this weekend and it looks like it could be a cracker with plenty of Mako being caught both close inshore and further offshore. As always large fresh baits and a burley slick is the best way to attract one.
ULVERSTONE
Species: Flathead, Squid.
Plenty of fish being caught off the beach and rocks along the Ulverstone coast this holiday period. With many Summer holiday goers having great success on all sorts of species including Flathead, Squid, Stingrays and the inevitable rock dwelling Parrot Fish. Providing a great fun way to get the entire family involved in fishing.
EAST COAST
Species: Crayfish.
The entire East Coast of Tasmania is alive with Crayfish currently, with excellent numbers being caught up and down the coast. Pots, rings or diving all working well.
GEORGES BAY
Species: Kingfish.
The elusive Kingfish is slowly becoming more and more common in Tasmanian waters. Anglers have been reporting recent catches in Georges Bay. Kingfish are often located in areas where Cocky Salmon are working bait balls, so the best chance of landing one is to spot the birds working over head and trying to get your lures down low below the Salmon. Soft Plastics or Diving Hard bodies both effective.
