Species:Â Flathead & Gummy Shark.
Reports have come in of the ever popular Flathead and Gummy Shark being caught off the North West Coast. Anglers having great success from boats using Paternoster Bottom Rigs, drifting over sandy bottom in approximately 20 – 40 metres of water.
TAMAR RIVER
Species: King George Whiting.
Anglers have had some success in catching King George Whiting in the Tamar River. Finding sandy patches in 2.5 – 4.5 metres of water with a Berley trail leading from behind the boat are key points to land this specie. Using Squid Strips as bait on rigs and Red Sparkle Hayabusa Whiting Rigs being the most effective.
GEORGES BAY
Species: Silver Trevally.
Anglers have been reporting recent catches of Silver Trevally in Georges Bay. As a schooling specie, they are often found in shallow sandy areas making them a popular catch from wharves and jetties in the area, with larger fish found more so in offshore waters. The best chance of landing one is Bait Fishing or using Soft Plastics, both being effective.
