EAST COAST
Species:Â Bluefin Tuna.
The Game Fishing Club of North Tasmania held its end of season comp at St Helens over the weekend, with over 15 boat entered. A 10.68kg Bluefin caught on 10kg line took out first place overall and with over 20 Bluefin tagged and released making the event a great success.
Outside of the comp Anglers still fared well on the Tuna including a 115kg Bluefin caught off St Helens and a 80kg Bluefin caught off Bicheno over the weekend.
The Barrels were caught closer in shore while a large amount of both school sized Bluefin and even some Albacore were caught further out on the shelf.
The Bluefin action continued further south down to Eaglehawk Neck where there has been a lot of schoolies caught as well as the odd Barrell.
Every time we think the Tuna have finished their seasonal run in Tasmania they seem to return weeks later.
ST HELENS
Species:Â Striped Trumpeter.
Located a couple of kilometres off St Helens point is Merricks Rocks. Fishing well lately for some great Striped Trumpeter. Now is a great time to target this species before the season closes for 2 months from September 1st.
