Another dismal weekend proved to much forrecreational anglers, many opting to stay inside. With limited reports we had to call in the big guns and reach out to some commercial anglers to find out what was going on around the state.
BICHENO
Species: Bluefin Tuna.
Still present, 20-30kg schoolies reported.
Halco laser pro in the King Brown and Pilchard colour still being effective.
BRUSHY LAGOON
Species: Brown Trout.
While most trout fisheries still remain closed until the 3 rd of August, those who needed their trout fishing fix have been heading out to Brushy Lagoon. Located 20km north of Westbury, Brushy Lagoon provides a great all round Brown Trout fishery and was recently stocked with 300 x 550gm Brown Trout. Berkley T-Tail soft plastics in the black and gold colour is the go to lure.
GEORGES BAY
Species: Winter Snapper and Garfish.
Snapper and Garfish have been reported in the bay. Flasher rigs for Snapper and fresh Squid on a garfish rig for the Garfish.
BINALONG BAY
Species: Gummy Shark.
Located not to far offshore we have had reports of Gummy Sharks being caught, as with the Snapper a simple flasher rig is a effective way to target them as well as a attractive rig for anything else lurking along the bottom.
