Tamar Marine Fishing Report – 21 August 2019

Trout were once again the flavour of the week. Read on below for our latest reports from the field.

BRUSHY LAGOON

Species: Brown Trout.

Brushy Lagoon is a small sheltered lagoon located 20km north of Westbury. Regularly stocked with Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Atlantic Salmon.

Anglers this week had more success from a boat than the shore. Trolling Hardbody lures working well, especially the Rapala Rainbow Trout and Ecogear MW62 (Black and Gold).

LAKE CRESCENT

Species: Brown Trout.

Lake Crescent showing some good early season success. Those with a boat are having the upper hand with drift spinning the shore line working well. Keitech Easy Shiner 4” (Gold Flash colour) and the Chasebait Curly Bait 3” (Disco Chicken) soft plastics were the pick of the bunch.

DERWENT RIVER

Species: Sea-run Trout.

We don’t normally hear too many reports instore from the southern part of the state, but this week we had a few anglers venture down over the weekend and returned with a few stories. Sea-run Trout reported, the best tactic is to find a small Hardbody lure that imitates Whitebait.

GREAT LAKE

Species: Brown Trout.

Located in the Central Plateau, the Great Lake is arguably the centre of Trout fishing in Tasmania and is open all year round. Trolling this vast waterway is an effective method. Using Tassie Devils and Cobra style lures are a cheap and effective method to provide a solid days fishing.
