Trout season got off to a flying start on Saturday, with many anglers camping out days before to ensure they got the perfect spot when dawn broke on Saturday.
WOODS LAKE
Species: Brown Trout.
Located 15 minutes from Arthurs Lake up the central highlands Woods Lake is a premium Brown Trout fishery and is a great early season option and produced great results on the weekend. Berkley Black and Gold T-Tails if your into soft plastic fishing or Rapala CD5 Spotted Dog Lure for the lure angler.
FOUR SPRINGS LAKE
Species: Brown and Rainbow Trout.
Normally the go to destination for many Launceston and Tamar region residents, Four Springs was oddly quiet. Despite being recently stocked with over 1300 Brown trout in the past month many found the fishing tough. The Hawk Sniper in the Killer Wasp colour was the stand out lure on a tough day.
BLACKMANS LAGOON
Species: Brown and Rainbow Trout.
Located just before Waterhouse Island, 20km East of Bridport, Blackmans is stocked with both Brown and Rainbow Trout. The Keitech Easy Shiner in the Green Pumpkin for the soft plastic angler. For those who want a more relaxing day, Berkley Powerbait Rainbow Nuggets on a bait hook.
CLARENCE LAGOON
Species: Brook Trout.
Clarence Lagoon is one of the 2 lakes in Tasmania that holds Brook Trout. Restricted to Fly and Artificial lures only. Berkley T-Tails and Keitech Easy Shiners are ideal for this hidden little lake.
