Tamar Marine Fishing Report – 18 December 2019

TAMAR RIVER

Species: Snapper.

The Snapper have well and truly arrived this past week with some absolute thumpers being caught in the river. Anglers have kept the exact locations of their catches secret but the one thing that they do all disclose is that you will need fresh caught bait for your best chances of success.

ST HELENS

Species: Flathead.

Just in time for the Christmas rush, St Helens is starting to turn it on. Plenty of Flathead being caught in about 40 metres of water off the coast.
Hayabusa Flasher rigs working a treat.

SOUTH EAST COAST

Species: Tuna.

Although the rumours have been patchy we have heard both Albacore and Southern Bluefin Tuna have been caught on the south east coast. The Albacore have been caught off Schouten passage and the Southern Bluefin down near Tasman Island. If they hang around there will be some very excited anglers over the Christmas break.
