COLES BAY
Species: Calamari Squid.
The Squid season on the north coast might be closed but that hasn’t stopped anglers from heading to the East Coast to find them. If you’re a squid angler then Coles Bay was the place to be the past week some some thumpers being caught.
SCAMANDER RIVER
Species: Bream.
All the recent rain has done wonders for the Scamander River with the water flowing enough to open the barway allowing for spawing Bream to enter the river. Soft Plastics and Hardbodies for the sports anglers or if you are just after a relaxing day out then a rod with a bait rig.
ANSONS BAY
Species: Bream, Trevally
As reported the other week, Ansons Bay was going to be one to watch over the coming weeks with the recent rainfalls flushing the eco system and providing a smorgasboard of new food for the fish to feed on.
DEVONPORT
Species: Jumbo Bluefin Tuna
Ok ok things are getting a bit out of hand here, not only have we had random Bluefin Jumbos rock up at Eaglehawk Neck out of season we now have them being hooked in Bass Strait waters off Devonport. What is going on? There has been plenty of bait reported in Bass Strait this week and finding a few bait balls will be your first step in trying to hunt one down.
Non the less a great sign for Tasmania anglers.
