Tamar Marine Fishing Report – 17th March 2021

TAMAR RIVER

Species:ย ย Kingfish.

The Kingfish are still being caught down towards the mouth of the Tamar River, Garden Island being the hot spot this week.

Kingfish like to sit in the water currents around structure. Try trolling around the river markers at a pace of around 9 knots.

SOUTH ESK RIVER

Species:ย  Brown and Rainbow Trout.

The South Esk River has been fishing well in recent weeks.

As we head towards the end of the Trout season and as the weather starts to cool off the larger Trout start to fire up as spawning season approaches.

Now is the time to enjoy the last few weeks of extra daylight and head out to try your luck in one of the many great river fisheries around the state.

ST HELENS

Species:ย  Striped Marlin.

And lastly word on the water is there has been a couple of Striped Marlin hooked up over the past week, none landed however.

Marlin often share the water with the Yellow Fin Tuna and with recent catches in the past 3 weeks there is every chance that the rumours are true.
