EAST COAST
Species:Â Bluefin Tuna.
The St Helens Game Fishing Clubs Tuna comp was held on the weekend, and it was great to see a record number of competitors enter.
Congratulations to former Tamar Marine Alumni BT on winning a number of Divisions, looks like that black cloud is finally starting to clear.
Predominately 10 – 20kg fish caught this past weekend, Barrels were spotted but catches were few and far between.
As has been with the past few weeks the Halco Laser Pro was the stand out lure. How ever it’s getting to the point where that is becoming the only lure people run, maybe its time to change it up?
TAMAR RIVER
Species: King George Whiting, Snotty Trevally
Plenty of action locally down the Tamar River, King George Whiting still featuring as well as some decent sized Snotty Trevally in the upper reaches of the river.
DEVONPORT
Species: Bluefin Tuna.
A 120kg Bluefin Tuna landed off Devonport is some of the biggest fishing news we have heard in a long time.
People have often suspected that the Bluefin may run through Bass Straight during the migration but no one has gone out of there way to specifically target them.
That may well now change. Congratulations to all involved in the historic catch.
