Tamar Marine Fishing Report – 5 February 2020

EAGLEHAWK NECK

Species: Albacore Tuna.

Eagle Hawk Neck is still the place to be this week, with plenty of Albacore Tuna (schoolies) about making the trip down well worthwhile. Halco Max lures the pick of the bunch, with Skirted Lures also working well.

NORTH COAST

Species: Kingfish.

The once elusive Tasmanian Kingfish is slowly but surely becoming a great target species in the Northern part of the state. With reports of fish up to 10kgs caught between Low Head and Waterhouse Island. Soft Plastic, Slices or Hard Bodies working well. The trick is retrieving or trolling the lures at twice the speed you normally would for Salmon.

TAMAR RIVER – BRIDPORT

Species: Snapper.

Much like the above mentioned Kingfish, Snapper are becoming increasingly more common in the waters around the North of the state. Bridport and the Tamar River being the hotspots. Fresh baits on a running rig or Paternoster rig also working well.
