Not a lot of salt water action this week but the fresh water scene is providing anglers with plenty of options.
TAIL RACE
Species: Sea Run Trout.
During Spring every year Sea Run Trout enter estuaries chasing white bait. The best place to target Sea Runners is anywhere where there is a bottle neck, such as river rapids or man made obstacles. The Tail Race is located 2 minutes out of the Launceston CBD is an ideal place to target Sea Run Trout, with hardbody lures and soft plastics working well there this week.
It is worth while noting that this part of the Tamar River does require a freshwater fishing license to fish.
ARTHURS LAKE
Species: Brown Trout.
The ever popular Arthurs Lake is fishing well. With anglers having great success around the Jonah Bay area. Hardbody lures working well, the Jaz Minnow fish the pick of the bunch.
SOUTH ESK
Species: Brown Trout.
One of the largest inland river systems in the northern part of the state. The South Esk river provides ample fishing locations along its banks. The stretch of the river that runs along side Esk Highway in the Fingal valley has been producing a number of quality Brown Trout. Hardbody and Soft Plastic lures working well.
